Hello,  First time for me too, is a new blog, and if this is your first time reading my blog, let me tell you a little something about it, and what you can expect in the future. First time for me too, is designed for people who are a little intimidated by cooking and following the recipes you may see in your gourmet magazines.

As the author of First time for me too, I strive to provide my readers with realistic goals that are easy to obtain.  I want to erase the fear and uncertainty from their minds that cooking a home style or gourmet meal is hard to do, in fact it can be easy and fun. I will be posting and demonstrating different techniques and familiarize my readers with tools, secrets of the kitchen, and it's equipment.

I recall when I first started cooking, I made plenty of mistakes. Just recently I forgot to add egg yolks to a cupcake recipe.  My first batch of cupcakes looked and tasted like corn muffins. After consulting with my cousin Tashiana, a chef and baker from Ohio, she told me to add the egg yolks to the rest of the batter. She said "if the recipe calls for egg yolks, than you must add them, even after the batter has been made." So I added them to the rest of the cupcake batter, and  the cupcakes came out perfect. Now I know that I can still add an ingredient even after the batter had been made. Another time was when I was making a stir fry of beef and broccoli.  I boiled my broccoli before I cooked the beef. When it came time to add the broccoli to the beef mixture, the broccoli turned to mush. I did not know at the time that the broccoli should be raw.  My first thought was to throw this mess in the garbage, then it occurred to me, that I never made this dish before, and I said, "oh well, it's the first time for me too, and all of a sudden I begin to laugh at myself and the big mistake I made. I didn't feel bad or like a failure in the kitchen.

First time for me too is not only for cooking, but I found out that there are a lot of things that are new to me and it will be the First time for me too. For example, moving to another state at the age of 54. I had a beautiful three bedroom home with a large yard, and I walked away from it. The decision was difficult, but I knew in my heart that it was something I had to do in order to grow. There was a lot of fear attached to that decision. The only thing that keeps me grounded to this day is that I remind myself that this is the first time for me too.

So, travel along with me as we venture out on trying new and exciting things for the first time. Some of the recipes may not be new to you, but the techniques of preparing them may be.
I look forward to your feedback and constructed criticism. And remember, when I make a mistake, this is the First time for me too.
